Discussion on Whistleblowing System at the Ministry of Justice

A discussion dedicated to improving the whistleblowing system was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Justice Gevorg Kocharyan, with the participation of relevant state bodies and civil society organizations.
The discussion addressed challenges encountered during the implementation of the system, ways to resolve them, as well as the importance of international recommendations provided to the Republic of Armenia. The progress of actions stemming from the anti-corruption strategy regarding this institution was also reviewed. The discussion included representatives from state bodies and civil society organizations.
Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Programs Director of the Armenian Lawyers' Association and anti-corruption expert, participated in the expert discussion and presented the Association's recommendations for improving the whistleblowing system. The observations addressed the need to establish a coordinating body, revision of whistleblowing channels, changing public perceptions, reward and incentive systems, and the importance of the civil-society led alternative whistleblowing platforms.
